WHO ARE WE?

This Website and our Storybook Apps are managed by the Motion Light Lab at the Visual Language and Visual Learning (VL2) Center at Gallaudet University. VL2 is a Science of Learning Center, funded by the National Science Foundation (Grant #SBE-1041725).

VL2’s primary mission is to improve learning through an understanding of the behavioral and brain mechanism of learning primarily through vision and visual processes, with our scientific questions being motivated and informed by an exciting balance of advances and questions in science and advances and questions in learning and social environments. Our mission is to create a science of learning using a two-way discovery model in which practitioners and scientists exchange ideas freely and mutually identify core questions in educational and social practice that would be fundamentally advanced with knowledge from the behavioral and brain sciences. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed are those of the developer(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the National Science Foundation.

These terms and conditions set out the terms and conditions on which we offer to supply to you our resources.

All references in this Terms of Use to the “resources” or “Resources” refer to this website www.vl2storybookapps.com and to our Storybook Apps; to “apps” refer to our Storybook Apps; to “we”, “us”, “our” and “VL2” refer to Visual Language and Visual Learning; and to “you” and “your” are to you, the user/buyer.

This Website is designed for you — please read these terms of use as they protect your interest, and if you have any comments, problems or any questions regarding our resources, please get in touch with us.

STORYBOOK APPS REFUND POLICY

Due to the nature of the Apple and Google app ecosystem, we do not provide direct refunds for our apps. If you are not happy with the app for any reason, please let us know by emailing us at motionlightlab@gallaudet.edu. 

USE OF OUR RESOURCES

Every effort is made to ensure the complete accuracy of the content on our resources, including the description of our apps and related products, however it is possible that errors may occur. We do try to display the design of the apps, including images, as accurately as possible, but there may be differences between different computer screens and print colors for which we are not responsible.

You will not remove, alter or obscure any copyright, trademark, service mark or other proprietary rights notices incorporated in or accompanying our resources or VL2 content.

NO INFRINGING USE

You will not use our resources to offer, display, distribute, transmit, route, provide connections to or store any material that infringes copyrighted works or otherwise infringes, violates, or promotes the infringement or violation of the Intellectual Property Rights of any third party. You will not copy, transfer, or transmit our resources to others for commercial or non-commercial use.

TRADEMARKS AND OTHER PROPRIETARY RIGHTS NOTICES

All trademarks, service marks, logos, trade names and any other proprietary designations of ML2 and VL2 used in association with the resources are trademarks or registered trademarks of ML2 and VL2. Notice will be deemed received and properly served immediately 24 hours after an e-mail is sent, or two days after the date of posting of any letter. In proving the service of any notice, it will be sufficient to prove, in the case of a letter, that such letter was properly addressed, stamped and placed in the post and, in the case of an e-mail, that such e-mail was sent to the specified e-mail address of the addressee.

ENTIRE AGREEMENT

These terms and conditions, our privacy policy and any document expressly referred to in them represent the entire agreement between us in relation to the subject matter of any contract and supersede any prior agreement, understanding or arrangement between you and us, whether oral or in writing.

You and we acknowledge that, in entering into a contract, you have not and we have not relied on any representation, undertaking or promise given by the other or be implied from anything said or written in negotiations between you and us prior to such contract except as expressly stated in these terms and conditions.

OUR RESOURCES AND ALL CONTENTS OF OUR RESOURCES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF TITLE OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You agree to defend, indemnify and hold VL2 and Gallaudet University harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, costs and expenses, including attorneys' fees, arising from or related to your use of our resources.

We consider the privacy of our users to be paramount, and we have developed a privacy policy to protect and inform our users ("Privacy Policy"). Our current Privacy Policy is incorporated herein by reference and made part of this Agreement.
